Enphase are the world leading solar microinverter manufacturer.
In 2024, Enphase launched their third generation battery, the IQ Battery 5P. Offered as an all in one solution (the DC cells and inverters are all within the same housing), each battery can store 5KWh of energy and can charge and discharge at 3.2KW.
Enphase allows up to 4 IQ Battery 5's to be connected together. Each time a battery is connected to another both its storage capacity and charge/discharge rates double. The maximum of 4 batteries would provide 20KWh of storage with a maximum charge/discharge power rating of 12.8KW.
As the IQ Battery 5 is an AC coupled unit, you can install this as a standalone device to an existing solar system or to charge up with cheap off peak energy at night, even if you don't have solar installed.

Suitable applications
Charging from solar. You can install your Enphase IQ Battery 5 with either a Enphase microinverter system or a 3rd party string inverter. This is because the IQ Bat 5 is AC coupled, meaning that it doesn't need to be charged directly with DC power. The IQ Battery 5 has 6 x Enphase microinverters built into the unit which can covert any AC power to DC so it can be stored in the battery cells.
If you install your Enphase IQ Battery 5 with Enphase microinverters, then you'll be able to monitor your entire system via the award winner Enlighten software. Here you'll be able to view all system production, consumption, battery performance and solar generation. If you install your Enphase IQ Battery 5 with a 3rd party solar system, then you'll have a limited view of your system performance and you'll need to combine the data from both your Enphase Enlighten and 3rd party inverters applications.
