Who are Worcester Bosch and Intergas Boilers?

Worcester Bosch Logo

Founded in the UK back in swinging 1962, Worcester Bosch has been a big name in the British boiler industry for decades, renowned for their high-quality build and excellent aftercare.

In 1992 the company joined the German-based Bosch group and for the last 10 years has held the Which? Best Buy Award.

Intergas Logo

Intergas was founded in 1932 and is a Dutch brand with a history of innovating the heating industry as a whole.

Their most famous creation was the development of its game-changing two-in-one heat exchanger, which they utilise in their boilers to the current day.

While both brands are known for their range of boilers, in terms of reviews and awards Worcester wins hands down.

Worcester Bosch vs. Intergas Boilers

When comparing different boiler manufacturers, it’s important to compare the raw numbers on their boilers, which is exactly what we have done in the table below.

Combi boilers are the UK’s most popular type of boiler, providing households with both heat and hot water on demand, all from a single wall-hung unit. Therefore, it’s no surprise that both brands offer a comprehensive range of combi’s.

Intergas’s most popular boilers are those in the Xtreme and Xclusive ranges, which include the 7 to 10 years warranty as standard.

However, if you are looking for the best combi boiler, then Worcester Bosh’s Greenstar range has practically no competition. With a sleek exterior design, 94% efficiency and unbeatable power, their Greenstar 8000 Life and Greenstar 8000 Style is by far their best boiler on offer.

Worcester Bosch Reviews

Fortunately, Worcester Bosch has some of the best customer reviews on the Trustpilot platform and is far better than any other boiler manufacturer at all.

Worcester Bosch has gained an incredible number of user reviews. As of January 2021, nearly 20,000 customers left a review.

The average rating of these reviews was 4.7 out of 5 stars, quite amazing for a brand selling in such large volumes. A testament to the quality of their products and excellent customer service.

Intergas Reviews

Intergas also has a number of favourable reviews on platforms like Trust Pilot, but as of January 2021 they stand at just 305, illustrating the stark contrast in popularity between the two manufacturers.

With that said the brand’s reviews, although small in number are good overall, averaging 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Installers do seem to experience more issues than Worcester, with many complaining of the boilers comparatively more complex installation process.

Awards and Accolades

Believe it or not, but there are boiler awards, they rate boilers on things like their reliability, performance, efficiency and aftercare, quite useful to know.

Which? Annual Boiler Survey Results

  • Reliability score

  • Customer score

  • Engineer recommendation

  • Build quality

  • Availability of parts

  • Ease of fixing faults

  • Ease of servicing

Worcester Bosch was awarded full marks for their build quality and availability of parts, two very important factors for any boiler user.

CORGI’s Domestic Heating Product of the Year

Worcester Bosch’s Greenstar Range is the latest offering from the leading boiler manufacturer.

The range is the brands highest efficiency boiling to date, being modern A-rated boilers; they can help you save an energy and money on your heating bills.

The quality and efficiency of the Greenstar Range is exactly why it was awarded with CORGI’s domestic heating product of the year for multiple consecutive years.

Warranties & Aftercare Comparison

The boiler warranty is arguably one of the most important factors when buying a boiler, as when something goes wrong, you want to know you’ll be assisted.

So, how do Intergas and Worcester Bosch compare?

Worcester Bosch Guarantee

Worcester Bosch is unique in that they do not simply offer a traditional warranty, but a no quibble guarantee.

What’s the difference? Is it just a marketing tactic?

A guarantee is superior to a warranty since it’s an agreement from the manufacturer that they will attend your property and repair or replace your boiler as soon as possible.

A conventional warranty (offered by most other brands) is a contract to investigate the issue, but not an unconditional agreement to repair the boiler free of charge.

When purchased via Heatable, all Worcester Bosch boilers in the Greenstar Range come with a 10-year long guarantee.

Intergas Warranty

Intergas boilers offer a 10 year warranty, but not on all of their boilers, currently just on the Eco RF and Xclusive range. Their other ranges vary in the warranty period they offer, including the Xtreme and HRE range that come with a seven year warranty, the Rapid Plus a six year warranty and the Rapid boiler a three year warranty.

The brands heat exchanger has its own warranty too. This is seven years on the Rapid boilers and ten years on the rest of the range.

Efficiency Comparison

Since 2018, Boiler plus legislation has meant that all new boilers are required to be at least 92% efficient.

This means that no matter which brand boiler you select, it will always be at least 92% efficient.

Essentially, this means that in terms of efficiency, there is very little difference between new boilers.

However, for comparison’s sake Worcester Bosch boilers have the highest efficiency at 94%.

Hence why the brand won CORGI’s domestic heating product of the year for their highly efficient Greenstar range.

However, Intergas also has a special feature called ECO mode, designed to increase the efficiency and performance of the boiler even further.

Essentially it allows the boiler to adapt to how the boiler is being used, for example, the heat exchanger will modulate itself depending on whether the heating or hot water is being used.

In the event that the hot water is being used it will switch to comfort function, allowing the exchanger to stay hotter for longer.

Price Comparison

The sticking point for many when it comes to boiler buying – the all-important price. Being an award winning brand, Worcester Bosch is not considered to be the cheapest boiler on the market, but for good reason, it’s a trusted and reliable choice.

In terms of price, for a Greenstar 25i by Worcester Bosch you are looking to pay between £800 – £975.

On the other hand, a new intergas boiler can be almost half the price of a Worcester Bosch boiler. For example, for a combi boiler by intergas you are looking to pay between £625 - £1200.

However, it’s important to consider other costs, such as gas safe installation of the boiler in your home. That’s why it’s essential to get a quote, thankfully Heatable offer a price match guarantee (we won’t be beaten on a like for like quote), see how much your new boiler will cost today using our boiler calculator tool.
