How long does it take to install a new boiler?
If you book your new boiler installation before 4 pm, we'll aim to get your new boiler installed as quick as 24 hours.
However, it's important to consider the type of installation you're having completed, as some will be more complex and take longer.
Installation TypeTime | |
Boiler swap | 1 day |
Boiler swap with relocation | 1-2 days |
Conversion from regular to combi | 2 days |
BBU conversion to combi | 2 days |
For example, a regular combi swap i.e. replacing your old combi boiler with a new combi boiler in the same location takes on average around a day.
However, if you are converting to a new condensing boiler type e.g. from a combi to a system boiler, it'll probably take a couple of days.
Note: we'll let you know exactly how long everything will take once you have received your quote from us.

Do you need a new boiler?
If your current boiler is very old, keeps breaking down or is completely busted, it's probably time to get a new one fitted.
On average, boilers last between 10 and 15 years and over time they lose their efficiency, meaning they can end up costing you more in running costs as they age.
Losing money with an inefficient boiler?
In fact, if you have an old non-condensing boiler, it could be costing you more to run and be much less eco-friendly than a modern A-rated boiler.
Boilers older than 10 years are G-rated and only have an efficiency rating of around 70%. This means for every £1 spent, 30p is being totally wasted. Modern boilers (like the one's Heatable install), are 90%+ efficient.
Beyond economical repair (BER)
Worse still, older boilers are more likely to break down and be out of their warranty period, meaning you can be landed regular with repair bills and have to pay for new parts. Often, this can end up costing you just as much, or even more as a new boiler.
If components such as a PCB or heat exchanger need to be replaced or repaired, then it may be more cost-effective to get your boiler replaced. This is referred to as a boiler that is beyond economical repair.
Boiler installation in London - Final Take...
So what's to take from all this boiler madness?
For arguably the most expensive city in the world, you're not actually getting a bad ride on boilers - particularly on combi swaps and particularly in North London.
Our take-home tip would be to - obviously - shop around and get several quotes but also to consider that many installers will be willing to travel across London so if you find a great deal on the other side of the city, don't be shy about asking if they'll cover your area. Many of them will do!
Good luck with the whole London situation, hang on in there.
