The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i might well be one of the UK's most popular boilers, having earned money from the pockets of thousands.
But so did PPI, and we all know how that ended. Or never ended.
In this review, we'll take an in-depth look at how the brand and boiler perform in key areas including power output, customer reviews, aftercare and warranty period.
Important note: The Greenstar i range, which includes the 30i has now been replaced by the Worcester Bosch 4000.
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i Review: All of its ups & and all of its downs
Worcester have been churning out boilers since before Coronation Street started and rightfully earned the respect of UK homeowners and boiler replacement companies alike.
The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i is straight from the 'Greenstar i' range, joining the Worcester Greenstar 25i - Worcester's cheapest and most popular combi boiler, in fact, the same boiler - just a 5kW's less powerful. See our boiler size calculator for more details on kW's.
The Greenstar i is their 'entry level' range of combi boilers and still boasts some great features, not least of which is an A-rating for efficiency, a pleasingly novel digital display and a reassuring 'Which?' Best Buy Award.
During the early noughties, an independent consumer association by the name of 'Which?' started rating products and services. Today they release an annual boiler survey based on the feedback of installers, of which Worcester has contiued to perform well, hence the Award.
Are there any better alternatives to a Greenstar 30i?
Overall, Worcester combi boilers are great all-rounders, offering reliability, fantastic warranties, and excellent customer service. Viessmann boilers, on the other hand, are often said to be technically superior, but since they are manufactured in Germany, parts can be a little more difficult to source.
So ultimately, it's a personal choice - do you value excellent customer service and convenience more? Or superior German engineering?
Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i, top perk:
You'll have got yourself a Worcester, feeling the relief of that peer pressure and convincing yourself it's great because - it's a Worcester, so it has to be?
Customer reviews for Worcester boilers are probably one of the best indications you are bagging yourself a great boiler as they are consistently positive.
Even better with a Worcester boiler, you will have secured yourself a hefty 10-year warranty (through Heatable), giving you long-lasting peace of mind, that if something does go wrong, you won't be left in the lurch.
So what makes the Worcester Greenstar 30i tick? A delve into the details
Here are those stats:
|Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i|

|Hot water output (kW)||30|
|Flow rate (l/m)||12.3|
|Dimensions (H,W,D)||690mm x 390mm x 280mm|
Beyond the boring - yet impressive - statistics, Worcester Bosch also made their Greenstar remarkably simple to use, with a clear informative display, a freeze-proof condensate pipe to reduce winter breakdowns, a low energy pump that reduces electrical consumption and most importantly - instantaneous hot water.
An embarrassment of riches - not so modestly displayed.

So, should you buy a Worcester Greenstar 30i combi boiler?
The Worcester Bosch 30i combi boiler is a fantastic boiler, offering reliability and incredible value for money. Worcester being based in the UK also means parts are very easy to obtain and their customer service is terrific.
As we've stated, you could also consider an Alpa E-Tec or a Viessmann Vitodens 050-W.
Customers reviews for Viessmann range from 'outstanding' to 'positively life altering'. An industry survey even found that the Viessmann Vitodens 050-W 29kW salvaged no less than seven failing marriages across the UK in 2018. Something which still has their competitors baffled.
We recently wrote a massive guide on the best combi boilers for 2020 and the best boiler brands and Worcester Bosch took the top spot. So, this is certainly a boiler brand with credibility.
