History of Vaillant Boilers
Vaillant was founded in 1874 by Johann Vaillant in Remscheid, Germany, and the Vaillant Group remains family-owned today. Johann himself has, understandably, stepped back from day-to-day operations.
The company’s early breakthrough came in 1894, when Johann Vaillant patented a closed-system gas bath boiler that could heat water without combustion gases contaminating it.
Vaillant went on to introduce a series of important heating innovations.
In 1961, Vaillant introduced Germany’s first wall-hung gas-fired heating system, the Circo-Geyser.
Six years later, the Combi-Geyser VCW 20 combined central heating and hot water in one appliance, which Vaillant describes as the first combi boiler of its kind.
In 1995, Vaillant launched its first condensing appliance, the Thermoblock ecoTEC, bringing technology that now forms the basis of virtually every modern gas boiler sold in Britain.
More recently, Vaillant has invested heavily in lower-carbon heating, including its aroTHERM heat pump technology.
