History of Ferroli

The Italian company was originally founded as the Ferroli Group in San Bonifacio (close to Verona), Italy in 1955. The brand started operating in the UK in the late ‘80s.

They entered the UK market as it was seen as having promise for good sales. In 1988, Ferroli began working alongside Brassware Sales before founding Ferroli UK Limited in 1997.

Ferroli UK expanded quickly and relocated to Burton-upon-Trent Staffordshire at the turn of the century. More recently, in May 2021, Ferroli UK set up shop in Derbyshire with new warehouses and offices.

The Ferroli Group as a whole operates in twelve countries worldwide and employs about 6,500 people.

Starting with Ferroli’s combi boilers, there are three separate models. These make up the only Combi boiler selection offered by Ferroli, namely the BLUEHELIX RRT Tech 24C Combi Gas Boilers. 

What is a Combi Boiler?

Combi boilers or combination boilers are a particularly popular option. In fact, up to seven out of ten UK homes use a combi boiler.

These boilers come with one compact unit which features a high-efficiency water heater and central heating boiler. They can provide hot water to radiators/taps directly without needing a separate storage tank. 

Modern A-rated combi boilers offer energy efficiency levels above 90%, adding to the reasons why so many homeowners prefer these boilers.

Ferroli Combi Boilers: Price Range

The total cost of having a Ferroli boiler would include the cost of labour along with other additional expenses. However, many customers are interested in knowing the standalone cost (a.k.a. Supply cost) of boilers.

The supply cost of Ferroli combi boilers ranges from around £750 to £800. Additional costs such as labour could add hundreds or even more than a thousand pounds to make the overall cost.

For this reason, if you receive an offer to have a Ferroli combi boiler installed for less than £1,000, it’s probably a legitimate offer.

The Tech 24C, being the Ferroli combi boiler with a lower output, is well suited to homes with one bathroom and about ten radiators. Alternatively, the brand’s combi boilers with higher outputs are suited to properties with as many as fifteen radiators.

Ferroli System Boilers

Moving on to Ferroli’s system boilers, the brand currently offers three separate models and once more, a single selection. In this case, we’re referring to the BLUEHELIX RRT Tech System Gas Boilers. 

What is a System Boiler?

If you have a property with a large heat and hot water demand, you may need a system boiler. These boilers come with a separate water shortage tank, meaning that they can provide hot water for a property on a continual basis.

The standalone price of Ferroli system boilers is between £565 to £700. Again, the supply cost does not include that of labour, the controls, the flue, and so forth.

Ferroli Regular Boilers

As for Ferroli’s regular boilers, the brand sells the BLUEHELIX TEC S 45 H. This is an efficient boiler with a two-year warranty.

What is a Regular Boiler?

Regular boilers also go by the name of traditional or heat-only boilers. These boilers can produce hot water for central heating use.

However, they can’t produce hot water for other uses such as showers, baths or taps. It’s important to be aware that since regular boilers need specific pipework, you should only install one to replace an existing heat-only boiler.

Looking a bit more at how these boilers work, a cold-water tank fitted in the loft supplies cold water to the boiler. A hot water storage cylinder would also be needed to enable daily hot water use.

Ferroli Regular Boilers Price and Range

As mentioned, there is one Ferroli regular boiler available. Unfortunately, the standalone costs are not currently available. This boiler comes with a 98% energy efficiency rating.

Ferroli Electric Boilers

These boilers are well-suited for small homes or flats where it’s not possible to install a gas boiler. There are currently four Ferroli electric boilers on sale, which make up the LEB TS Electric Boilers selection.

What is an Electric Boiler?

These boilers can reach very high-efficiency levels. The electricity used for these boilers generates heat to warm up water within the system. This heated water is then used for hot water (e.g., for taps) and central heating.

Unfortunately, the price range of Ferroli’s electric boilers is not available. Although what we do know about this range is that there are four output options available. 

The 6-kW boiler is suited to four radiators, with the 7.5-kW option befitting five radiators, the 9-kW model being suitable for six radiators and the 12-kW boiler being sufficient for eight radiators. 

Notably, these boilers come with energy efficiency levels of 99.5%! The overall price would include around £800 to £1,300 to cover expenses such as that labour, the flue and the filter.

A great way to assess the quality and value for money offered by a brand is by looking at customer reviews/ratings. Ferroli has a 3.9-star rating on Trustpilot from 231 reviews. 

Customers are quite divided when it comes to how they rate Ferroli on Trustpilot. While 64% gave it a five-star rating, almost a quarter of customers rated Ferroli with just one star. Only 13% of reviewers gave it a rating between one and five stars. 

Ferroli Boilers Verdict

The boilers sold by Ferroli are generally inexpensive and efficient. There are of course various brands offering boilers with similar price tags to Ferroli. Examples include Baxi and Glow-worm. However, these brands have better ratings on websites such as Trustpilot.
